Setting Up Your Ledger Device
Welcome to Ledger.com/start, your comprehensive resource for initializing and securing your new Ledger hardware wallet. Proper setup is essential for ensuring the highest level of protection for your digital assets.
Unboxing Your Ledger Device
When your Ledger device arrives, carefully unbox it and verify all components. Your package should include the Ledger hardware wallet, USB-C cable, recovery sheet, keychain strap, and getting started materials. Inspect the device for any signs of tampering - the security seal should be intact.
Installing Ledger Live
Download Ledger Live, the official companion application for your Ledger device, from our official website. Available for desktop (Windows, macOS, Linux) and mobile (iOS, Android), Ledger Live serves as your gateway to managing your cryptocurrency portfolio securely.
Initializing Your Device
Connect your Ledger device to your computer using the provided USB cable. Follow the on-screen instructions to initialize your device. You'll be prompted to set a secure PIN code - this protects your device from unauthorized physical access. Choose a PIN that's strong but memorable.
Generating Your Recovery Phrase
Your Ledger device will generate a unique 24-word recovery phrase. This is the most critical element of your security setup. Write down each word in the exact order on your recovery sheet. Store this sheet in multiple secure locations - never digitize it or store it online.
Adding Crypto Accounts
Once your device is set up, you can begin adding cryptocurrency accounts through Ledger Live. Install the apps for the cryptocurrencies you want to manage. Each account will generate a unique receiving address that you can use to transfer assets to your Ledger.
